My proofreading services involve checking for spelling, grammar, punctuation, spacing between words, and certain formatting issues (depending on the job). Proofreading does not include: correcting errors in information, shortening, or improving the content of the text.

My copy editing services tend to include the same as my proofreading services plus I check for things such as uneven flow, inconsistent verb tense, lack of clarity, wordiness, inconsistent tone and style, and confusing word use.

Time required will vary depending on the quality of the original writing submitted. If you require a quote, please provide details and a 1-2 page sample of your document. The quote will remain valid for 30 days.

I prefer documents to be sent to me as a Microsoft Word file (I’ll use the “Track Changes” and “Comments” functions) or as a Google document. I can also proofread hard copies of documents. Other options are possible.

I will proofread or edit your document in such a way that you will be able to accept or reject all changes. You remain ultimately responsible for the content and accuracy of your work.

I will proofread or edit your document very carefully, but I cannot guarantee I will find every single mistake.

I will treat your document with confidentiality and can sign a confidentiality agreement if required. See the privacy policy for more details.

I may occasionally need to ask you a question about your work so please provide an email address that is checked regularly.

I reserve the right to turn down any proofreading or copy editing job, especially if I am given less than 24 hours notice.

Once you have agreed in writing to use my services, prompt full payment of the invoice on job completion is expected. If you wish to cancel the job before I complete the work, you must do so in writing and pay for the work already completed.

Interest may be charged at 10% per month on overdue accounts. If a third party debt collection agency is used to collect outstanding debt, additional fees will apply.

Please notify me within 7 days of receiving your proofread/edited document if you have any concerns, and I will address your concerns promptly.

Asking me to proceed with your job means you have read and accepted these terms and conditions.
